On 19th April 2013, at the 5th Budapest Process Ministerial Conference, Deputy Minister Piotr Stachańczyk signed “Joint Istanbul Declaration.” The document is a direct reference to the current international debate on migration with the signatories of the Declaration undertaking to engage in dialogue and cooperation on migration management in the region of the Silk Routes.

Internal security in Europe, external borders of the European Union and illegal arms trafficking were the topics touched upon by the Ministers of the Interior of the Forum Salzburg states. A two-day conference was held on 23rd and 24th April in Warsaw. The meeting was attended by Head of the MI Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk appointed Marcin Jabłoński, the Voivode of the Lubuskie Voivodeship, to the position of Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior. The new Deputy Minister began his work on 2 April 2013. He is responsible for i.a. public security and order (including supervision over the Police). The Prime Minister appointed Rafał Magryś to the position of Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior, responsible for state registers and population registers. Colonel Krzysztof Klimek, who since March 2013 had been the acting head of the Government Protection Bureau, was appointed to the position of the head of the Government Protection Bureau.

Last year foreigners obtained over 400 permits for real estate acquisition in Poland. The permits issued by the Minister of the Interior concerned both agricultural land and forests, living premises and business premises, as well as shares in the companies that are owners or perpetual usufructuaries of real estate. The largest number of permits issued (over 300) concerned the purchase of land. The Ministry of the Interior drew up a report for 2012 on the implementation of the Act on the acquisition of real estate by foreigners.
